The way I understand it, Genius not only uses your mp3's metatags to organize Genius information, but also gets a lot of information from what people put in their playlists. This makes sense, as the point of Genius is to automatically put together a list of song that go together, without having to do it manually. I read an article about this once, where a guy had Genius create a playlist for him, and he couldn't figure out for the life of him what the songs had in common.
They were from all different years, genres, etc. Finally, he realized that the tracks all had one thing in common -- they were Canadian. I start playing the playlist and it streams to my device. The stream and downloads stop. I curse. That avenue is your Mac. Start by turning off iTunes Match on your iOS device. Click the Save Playlist button at the top of the playlist pane. If the tracks are only in the cloud and not in your iTunes library, the playlist will have a Download icon next to it.
Sync that playlist to your iOS device. To create Genius Playlists and Genius Shuffle, Music uses anonymous information about your library and other Music libraries. Genius is a free service. To use Genius, you must turn on Genius on each computer you want to use it on , be connected to the internet, and have an Apple ID.
Genius Playlists appear in the sidebar on the left, below Music Playlists. A Genius Playlist has the Genius icon next to it. In the Music app on your Mac, click Songs in the sidebar on the left.
