Lin , May 12, It grips and pulls out loose hair. I use it about once a month but use it more often when Phoenix is in full on coat blow to keep up with the shedding. The deShedding Tool is fine to use on the ears and tail. It is non-abrasive to the skin and removes the undercoat and loose hair. The blades can really hurt and damage the skin underneath.
The reason furminators work well is because they get the undercoat of the dogs coat. Ideally, your Labrador should be brushed at least once a week preferably daily improve shedding. It is also important not to spend too much time on one area as you may cause irritation on the skin. It can easily be cleaned with warm soapy water.
