It has been a fun name to have, and I do not know why they decided to make me the T-Pot. I was short but not sure that I was that stout. I could stand on the table occasionally and perform and they liked that.
To me, this was one of the ways that upper-class men and freshmen could really have fun and bond in a non-threatening way. Photo was taken in at a reunion of the football recruiting class as Terry Collins sang "his" song. With love in my heart and a smile on my face, thanks for the memories Terry "teapot" Collins. Billy, I can confirm that Jim Bertelsen was our teapot recruits. I was unable to explain that it was a compliment. James D. He was elected Mayor of the City of Galveston in May and will serve a two year term.
He is a native of Galveston and graduate of Ball High School. Jim attended the University of Texas at Austin on an athletic scholarship and captained the Longhorn Southwest Conference football championship team. Jim is married to the former Carol Urbani and they have two children: daughter Ashley, her husband Dustin Dusek, and a son Beau, a graduate of the University of Texas, and his wife Erin, and they are the proud grandparents of Luke and Blake Dusek.

To an outsider, this makes absolutely no sense. Please explain. I've been a longhorn fan since the mid seventies and I have no idea.
I always just chalked it up to aggy being stupid aggy. Because T-magic was already taken. Something about them working the fields or fighting wars or something, while Longhorns lived the good life sipping tea. I have asked three different Aggies, and gotten three different answers. I don't even think they know. And they're Aggy. It's supposed to be a jab at our arrogant, elist attitude and educational and financial superiority.
I've heard from several people if you drop ur pants, grab ur ankles, and point towards the moon Because every school has an official, university-sanctioned, faux-derogatory nickname for its rival that everyone associated with the school uses, all the way up to the university president and chancellors.
It's totally normal. Last edited by LonghornDub; at AM. It's really never a good idea to ask "why" the aggy's do the things they do. It's like asking "why is the sky blue? It's because god made it that way. That doesn't really make any sense. Oh well, neither does "Gig em", or having a border collie for a mascot not much room to talk on the mascot subject here , or having an entire fight song be about another school.
Of course, a really militant and petty wing of our fan base calls all Iowa fans who never went to Iowa which is most of their fans Tavern Hawks regardless of whether or not they're actually white trash losers. I think it's common for the 2nd most popular school in a state to do this, but at least ours makes discrenable sense.
I was informed that the "T" is for Texas as well as "Tea" and that because we are a bunch hippies in Austin, we "sip tea like homos. Hence T-sips. Thought it had something to do with WWII or some other war and a lot of Aggies going to war while the UT alums stayed at home and sipped tea. Way back when Texas folks were the elitists that typically were city kids that looked down on everyone.
Thus the saying was that that the Texas folks were up in Austin "sipping their tea" while Aggies were out doing the real work. Thus "teasips" or "sips" evolved. Of course now both schools are demographically far more similar but the primary cultural difference is the same. Texas is still generally a bunch of elitist a-holes that think their shite doesn't stink and everyone should bow before them.
Aggies are still generally tied to our roots as well. Replies 3. Tea is considered uppity by the ATM community? What are their feelings on mittens? Thanks for the explanation. By this process, every Aggie Ring is first made in wax - size 6 for ladies or size 10 for men. At Ring Dance or during your commencement ceremony, you will turn your Ring so that the year faces outward, proudly declaring your achievement to everyone you meet. Marty Holmes, Class of , wears his Aggie Ring and his wedding ring on the same finger.
For some Aggies , a wedding ring shares its place of honor with a piece of Aggie gold. Greenwade said people tell her they choose to wear their Aggie Ring on their left ring finger because it is closest to their heart.
